(Common) Whitethroat (Sylvia communis) Papa-amoras-comum

Common Whitethroats are a breeding species in the northernmost third of Portugal and a passage migrant elsewhere - apart from the high hills around Monchique down in the south where they can be seen with some ease.

Males are easily told apart from other species by the grey head, white throat and bright brown wing, but females and juveniles can have one scratching one's head for hours as they can be very similar to both Spectacled and the more common Sardinian Warbler. It's where a camera comes in useful ...
