An over-wintering and passage migrant, Red Knots show a wide seasonal variation in their plumage, from the washed out grey of the winter to the "in your face" orange of the summer and both plumages - and the whole range in-between - can be seen here which makes them sometimes a tricky bird to id. Seldom found singly and sometimes seen in impressive numbers, they migrate north in May and return in mid-September.
