European Robins are a quintessentially winter visitor in southern Portugal, and, though they are present throughout the year in woodland, their numbers are swolen during the colder months of the year by more northern specimens wintering in the benevolent climate that we enjoy in this region. They arrive in early October and leave again in late March, being much shyer and seldom seen outside these months.
