Tawny Pipit (Anthus campestris) Petinha-dos-campos

A summer visitor, the Tawny Pipit is the largest Pipit to be found in Portugal, and is lightly coloured with an upright gait. Prefering short, uncultivated grass, I normally come across them on the Plains or in the western Alentejo  and Algarve, where the habitat of rather open sparse and short grass is ideal for them.
