Crested Tit (Lophophanes cristatus) Chapim-de-poupa

Crested Tits are resident throughout Portugal. Omniverous and feeding low down in trees it is easy to observe, but it is shy and not easy to approach.

It is found wherever there are trees and undergrowth, and, with its striking crest seldom un-erect and talkative nature is an easy bird to identify whenever found. Frequently forages together so pairs are often encountered. Responds well to "pishing".
